Hello. I've been reffered here via a chap on Royal British Legion Riders Branch FB page. I would like some advice or assistance in developing a ride of remembrance to North Scotland each year. In remembrance of all the Scottish men and women who fought for freedom. In particular of personal interest to me - on 14th October 1939 - of a 1400 hand crew - 883 men and boys of HM Battleship Royal Oak died either on the day or from their wounds when their ship was fired upon by German U-47. The battleship was at anchor. The first British battleship lost, before we had fired a single shot. A few weeks later the assassination of Hitler was a failure. My Great Uncle, a biker, & my grans eldest brother rests in peace at Scapa Flow with his comrades. He was a stoker. Lots of Scottish people have family at rest. I would be honored and proud to help organise a Scottish Ride. The setting sun is spectacular in Northern Scotland - land of the braves. Who can I speak to? Thank you and God bless you all.
BBMF have confirmed the flypast of a spitfire to close the service for AMRR (UK) at 14:30 (2.30pm). Due to time constraints of the BBMF, we have had to move the flypast to close the event, not open it as advertised on our flyers!
The spitfire will conduct two flypasts (three if time permits), flying in from the direction of the bike parking area with the display line running toward the flagpole.
Allied Memorial Remembrance Ride added a milestone from June 30, 2012 to their timeline: AMRR 2012UK, (Texas, Miami, Ponca City, New Hampshire) USA and (Ottawa) Canada ride in honour of our fallen heroes!
